FFWPIH The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... The Big Rock burn scar in... Southeastern Jefferson County in southeastern Idaho... South Central Madison County in southeastern Idaho... * Until 300 PM MDT. * At 125 PM MDT, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Big Rock Burn Scar. Between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Snake River Rd. and Heise Road have water and debris on the roadway. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the Big Rock burn scar. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Big Rock Burn Scar. This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches in the Big Rock Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to safety. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
