At 1057 AM CDT, a severe squall line capable of producing both tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage was located near Crete, or near Steger, moving east at 55 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Will and northeastern Kankakee Counties.
