What Floods at Each Level

Flooding of historic proportions. Access to Fernandina Beach is impossible. Flooding along Egans Creek expands to where water reaches surge spreading inland from the Atlantic, overwashing the barrier island portion of Fernandina Beach. Some neighborhoods flood up to 4 feet deep either along Egans Creek or along the Sound side of Fernandina Beach. Water begins to flood a portion of the Fernandina Beach Airport.

Catastrophic flooding at Fernandina Beach. Areas along Egans Creek experiencing flooding spreading out of the creek flooding numerous homes. Water along the creek has rendered Atlantic Ave, Jasmine Street and Sadler Road impassible. Flooding along Cumberland South expands as far as 4th Street. State Road 200 is impassable on either side of the bridge. Numerous residential areas on Piney Island and just north of South 8th Street near Sycamore Lane are flooded.

Considerable flooding at Fernandina Beach. From the entrance to Egans Creek and upstream, flooding worsens with numerous homes near the creek flooded. Access to the beach is restricted as Atlantic Ave, Jasmine Street and Sadler Road are impassible at this level. Water begins spreading further inland near the Cumberland Sound Ferry, approaching 3rd Street. Homes along Sycamore Lane experience significant inundation. SR 200 or South 8th St. begins to flood, making travel into Fernandina Beach challenging.

Flooding moves further inland near the entrance to Egans Creek. The area around Fernandina Plaza Historic State Park floods. Water approaches North 14th Street. Several structures along Egans Creek near Sunrise Drive begin to flood. Along Egans Creek, flooding worsens considerably south of Atlantic Ave affecting numerous residences. Atlantic Ave begins to flood. Jasmine Street is impassible. Flooding worsens near the Cumberland Island Cruise Ferry. Much of Front St is impassible above this level.

Flooding expands near the entrance to Egans Creek. Fernandina Plaza Historic State Park continues to flood. Along Egans Creek, between Atlantic Ave and Sadler Rd flooding becomes more expansive. Residences just south of Jasmine Lane begin to flood that are immediately adjacent to the creek. Jasmine St begins to flood east of the creek at this level. In Fernandina Beach, flooding begins to affect the Cumberland Sound Ferry dock terminal and also floods North and South Front Street.

Near Fort Clinch, flooding expands through the docks and boat ramps at the end of Pogy Lane, with most areas along the water front from Egans Creek to just west of Fort Clinch flooded. At the end of Fernandina Beach near the entrance to Egans Creek, water begins to flood into the Historic State Park. Upstream along Egans Creek, flooding expands on the east bank of the creek between Atlantic Ave and south of Jasmine St. Areas within 1/4 mile of the creek experience street flooding with a few homes isolated

At Fort Clinch, water begins to flood near the Fort westward to the entrance of Egans Creek, affecting the campground, boat ramp and some structures near the end of Pogy Place. Along Egans Creek, Tiger Point Marine begins to flood. Further flooding continues along Egans Creek overtopping the west bank of the creek near Sunrise Drive. Along the creek near Atlantic Ave, the Atlantic Ave Recreation Center begins to flood. Flood waters reach Jean Lafitte Blvd. No homes in the area are impacted.

Water begins to overtop the bank of the Amelia River near the Fort Clinch Campground southward to the entrance of Egans Creek. Flooding along Egans Creek begins to impact the parking lot of the Atlantic Recreation Center along Atlantic Avenue. The backyards of homes along Ocean Oakes Drive along Egans Creek begins to flood. In Fernandina Beach, flooding begins at the end of Sycamore Lane. Some minor flooding may begin along North Front Street and Jasmine Street.
