On the Evening of June 6 and the Morning of June 8 rain of 8 to more than 10 inches fell in Owen and much of Morgan Counties. The rain fell when the ground was already very wet from storms earlier in June and the White River ranged from flood stage in Morgan County to 6 feet over flood stage in Owen County. This effect was disastrous flooding in Morgan and Owen Counties with river levels approaching March 1913 levels from Martinsville area to and including the Spencer area.

During June 2008 deluge more than half of Martinsville flooded...State Road 37 both north and south of Martinsville was closed at times...record flood on Indian Creek and many apartments and businesses on east side of State Road 37 were heavily damaged. Some apartments and homes had more than 3 feet of water in them. The water level at SR 39 and White River for this flood remained considerably lower the Labor Day 2003 flood. The new Martinsville WWTP remained high and dry.

In southwest Morgan County, extreme local flood blocked SR 67 going south where the 67 becomes 2 lanes. The town of Paragon was cut off from the outside world as SR 67 flooded also flooded south of Paragon. The town itself was extensively flooded by local flooding and extreme river flooding occurred east of the railroad tracks in the nearby rural areas.

Flood waters cover the flood plain along SR 39 connecting SRs 37 and 67 just southwest of Martinsville. Flooding causes the evacuation of a few people and damages Blue Bluff Road near IPL Power Plant. Local river roads are impassable.
