Major Flood Stage. Extremely rare and catastrophic flooding of the Catawba River is developing with disastrous impacts to property. Campgrounds may be experiencing devastating flooding greater than 4 ft deep, causing severe damage. Basements and crawl spaces may be completely submerged. First-floor building elevations may be experiencing ruinous flooding greater than 1 ft deep. Travel may be severely restricted with roadway inundation exceeding 3-4 ft, stranding several homes and businesses.

Moderate Flood Stage. Unusual, damaging flooding is developing with considerable impacts to property. Significant flooding reaching 4-6 ft deep is ongoing for low-lying areas and low-water crossings near the Catawba River. Campgrounds may be experiencing dangerous inundation up to 2-4 ft deep, capable of moving RVs and other vehicles. Flooding less than 1 ft deep may begin for first-floor building elevations. Some homes and businesses may be stranded. Significant impacts to travel are likely.

Minor Flood Stage. Deeper flooding of low-lying areas is developing with secondary impacts to vulnerable property. More significant flood inundation of approximately 2-4 ft is beginning for low-lying areas adjacent to the Catawba River. Low-water crossings may be inundated with up to 2-3 ft of floodwaters. Campgrounds, secondary roads, and outbuildings may be experiencing flooding up to 1-2 ft deep. Flooding less than 1 ft deep may begin impacting basements, crawl spaces, and primary roads.

Action/Advisory Stage. Common, nuisance flooding of low-lying areas is beginning. The Catawba River is beginning to flood adjacent, flood-prone areas including farmland, woodlands, nurseries, parks, athletic fields, greenways, and boat-access areas with up to 2 ft of inundation. Low-water crossings may be inundated with up to 2 ft of floodwater and become impassable. Campgrounds and secondary roads may experience floodwater inundation of up to 1 ft.
